What's the different between a fat quarter and a long/skinny quarter?

A fat quarter is a half metre cut from the bolt then folded in half and cut again. This gives you a piece of fabric measuring approximately 19" x 20" (48cm x 50cm).

A long/skinny quarter is cut at a quarter of a metre from the bolt which gives you a piece of fabric 10" x 42" (25cm x 106cm).

What is a fat eighth?

A fat eighth is a fat quarter cut in half. The fat eight is approximately 10" x 19" (25cm x 48cm).

Do I need to pre-wash my fabric?

We recommend you pre-wash all fabric before sewing. This will avoid shrinkage when you wash your fabric. Tumble drying fabric is NOT recommended.

Do you have a physical shop/can I visit?

Currently we do not have a shop that you can visit. We are happy to bring our shop to any sewing/quilting groups and trade at your local exhibitions if availability suits both parties. Drop us an email to see if we can arrange something at info@honeycombquilting.co.uk
